Defocus Dei To get REALLY realistic photographic-type results out of computer generated images, you have to be able to apply depth of field. While many people look at a computer generated image and think that it is "perfect", they overlook the fact THAT IT IS! In real life, we see depth through subtle differences in focal length and "blur". Defocus Dei is a utility that allows you to add focal depth and blur to an image. Defocus Dei allows you to define a zone which will be clear and from where the blur will start (either closer to the viewer or farther away). As a post-process utilitiy, you can add these effects easily and quickly. This program works with Amapi, and is also a plug in for 3D Studio and Lightwave. Before you create an image output from Amapi, be sure to set the Defocus Dei setting. This will allow Amapi 3D to create the image file and the .dei file (which contains the instructions required by Defocus Dei.) To see some examples see the small gallery. |
